Ice bucket challenge

Did you do it?  Have you watched others do it?  Are you tired of looking at people doing it -  on TV, on facebook, in your neighborhood, at work, everywhere you look?

Do you know how many people are all of a sudden aware of ALS and what it means?  Do you know how many people have donated to ALS for the very first time because of this silly chanllenge?  Do you know how much MORE money has been raised because of people dumping ice in their heads?

Washington, D.C. (August 22, 2014) — As of Friday, August 22, The ALS Association has received $53.3. million in donations compared to $2.2 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 21). These donations have come from existing donors and 1.1 million new donors to The Association.

1.1 million NEW donors.  This is Wonderful!   Now go dump a bucket of ice on your head, or even better, go donate to a truly good cause.  No one really has to dump the ice on their heads, but maybe, just maybe, doing so will make that person aware of the shocking life people with ALS have to live.  Their bodies stop working, but their brains don’t.  I think the next ALS challenge should be sitting still with no movement, no control, NO control over any muscle in the body, no bodily functions at all, but a fully functioning mind.

Imagine thinking about all you could be doing.  Imagine thinking about what you just did in your pants.  Imagine seeing your children, grandchildren, lover, and not being able to talk to them, hug them or even tell them you love them.  Imagine ALS and then go donate.  Please.

PS, I didn't do it, but I DID donate!

  1. I didn't do it either, Marge; but I did donate. I am amazed at how this caught on.
