What to do, what to do….

I came upstairs this morning full of energy and ideas… not really… just full of good intentions. I have lots of fabrics and lots of ideas but to match the ideas to the fabrics is a good trick. I decided I would make something from one of the many containers of fabrics that is not on a shelf… in other words, fabrics there isn’t room for on the shelves. I looked around at the many baskets and containers, laundry baskets, plastic bins, paper bags and was totally overwhelmed and ashamed of myself… and oh so excited.

Then I looked closer… quite a few of those containers were PIGs (Projects in a Grocery Sack), also HSYs (pronounced hiss-eees ...means Haven't Started Yet). Several PIGs had patterns in them, or at least the start of the patterns, meaning they were mysteries in the making. I didn’t really want to work on any of those.

Around the corner near the window was a market basket from our days in England, one truly used for shopping, one I did use when I shopped in Germany since the stores there didn’t have grocery bags of any kind. And that market basket was full of left over fabrics from a commission of quite a few years ago.. ten years ago to be exact. For all I know, those fabrics have been in that basket since then… some have basket weave dents on them so I know they’ve been in there a while.

Ten years is a long time to sit… they are headed to the washer now, and while they are washing and drying, I’ll decide what to do with them. There is enough fabric there for a large quilt, maybe even a king size… and guess what… I have a queen size bed and my bedroom is of the same color family… perhaps I’ll make a new quilt for my bed….

Not that I need another one… I have Broken Dishes, Quarter of a Courthouse, three samplers and several other quilts which are designated to my bed.. but the colors are so right and John loves this color…
Decisions decisions, all over again.

  1. One of my goals this year is to finish a block swap from my time in Dover. We left Dover ten years ago!! Maybe I will finally get it done :)
