Monday August 4th

We left Utah about 9 this morning, after a short stop at what I think was called the Devil’s Slide, neat looking rock formation. While there I caught this bird shot

We headed into Wyoming, just so I could say we’d been there. Well we liked it so much we went there twice, after making a wrong turn at one point. But what a scenic wrong turn it was, and well worth the extra miles. The Flaming Gorge is beautiful, and the dams and lakes just add to the beauty. We saw deer napping under the trees just a few feet off the road, and even caught this guy looking for a place for his nap. He's there, I promise!

We also spotted Mountain Bluebirds, four of them flying together looking for a snack.

Of course we had to make a stop in the Dinosaur National Park, although it was way too hot, and time was way too short for us to make the hikes to see any dinosaurs. After seeing no dinosaurs I was tickled to see a Bald Eagle soaring overhead, no photo though.

We HAD planned on spending the night on the east side of the Rocky Mountain National Park, but the road was much slower than we anticipated, so we’ve only gotten as far as Steamboat Springs. There seems to be lots going on here, and finding a place to stay was almost impossible. However we managed, way up at the top of the hill, adjacent to the ski lift, and I can’t wait to see the view in the morning!
Tomorrow the Rockies or at least some of them, and then Nebraska and Iowa, not sure how far we will get, or what we will see.
