The title should probably read Mysteries for ACS, but that just didn’t have the same ring, so I went with Relay. This is a group I started just as an idea, to see how it would be accepted and what might happen. My thought was, I am “selling” patterns to raise money for ACS, why not a class. But how can I “charge” people fairly and give them something they want to do.
And the answer to that was by “charging” them for mysteries. This way they have no preconceived idea of what they will be making. They get to choose their own fabrics, and can ask all the questions they want about the fabrics, placement, etc. So far each mystery project has been loved and there have been no complaints at all about the “charging”
I am pretty sure that is because everyone has been touched by cancer in some way, and everyone is so willing to help find the cure in some way. There are a few cancer survivors in the group, and a few family members and/or caregivers also.
We have two things that bond us together, our hatred of cancer and our love of quilting. And that makes it a special group.
If you want more information on Mysteries for Relay, send me an email, or stop by http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MysteriesForRelay/ The next mystery starts on August 22nd
